Presenting Poet Laureate Donald Hall

Pensacola Junior College presents Poet Laureate Donald Hall as part of the 2009-2010 Lyceum Series.

Hall holds a free creative writing workshop 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in Building 7, room 736, on the Pensacola campus.

Hall's poetry reading is 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.

Hall was appointed the Library of Congress' 14th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry in 2006. He has published numerous books of poetry, most recently "White Apples and the Taste of Stone: Selected Poems 1946-2006;" "The Painted Bed" and "Without: Poems." Honors include two Guggenheim fellowships, the Poetry Society of America's Robert Frost Silver Medal, a Lifetime Achievement award from the New Hampshire Writers and Publisher Project and the Ruth Lilly Prize. Hall also served as Poet Laureate of New Hampshire 1984-1989.

Tickets for Hall's poetry reading are $10, reserved admission; $8, seniors, children, non-PJC students; $6, Senior Club members, PJC staff/faculty/retirees; free, PJC students. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash or check are accepted.
