Throw a Bowl for Manna!
10/21/2009

Pensacola Junior College invites the community to have some wheel fun Nov. 13 at the third annual “Throw a Bowl for Manna” where guests get down and dirty throwing bowls at potters' wheels.

So, don’t wear your best clothes!

Hosted by PJC and Manna, the hands-on fun runs 6 to 9 p.m. at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts, which anchors the PJC campus at Ninth Avenue and Airport Boulevard. No potter's wheel experience required – thanks to assistance from PJC visual arts instructors.

Show your support for Manna with a donation.

The exciting evening of creativity includes the PJC Art Faculty Exhibition, music by the PJC Jazz Band, beverages and delicious appetizers donated by Homestar Restaurant Group, Bamboo Willie’s, Hemingway’s Island Grill and Hooters Restaurant.

Following “Throw a Bowl,” the bowls are delivered to Manna’s main pantry at 116. E. Gonzalez St. for “Fill a Bowl for Manna,” the fund-raiser’s second phase. Festivities are 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 16. Admission is $25 per person.

At this event, guests select bowls to fill with soups prepared by local chefs – and take home as keepsakes – plus bid on bowls designed by local artists during the Silent Auction.

Manna is a nonprofit organization that fights hunger in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. It annually serves more than 30,000 people in Northwest Florida.
