August 17-22, 2009, Center Staff Attend Comprehensive Instructor Course at the Institute for Medical Simulation
Marta Suarez-O’Connor, Education Director, and Annette Orangio, Simulation Specialist, at the Mary Smart Simulation Center participated in the one week comprehensive course taught at the Institute for Medical Simulation (IMS) in Boston. The IMS is affiliated with Harvard and MIT. The course was taught by some of the most experienced specialists in the field of medical simulation. The course covered all aspects of creating and teaching simulation courses. Topics included everything from the history of simulation in healthcare to course development and operations to crisis resource management. An emphasis was placed on debriefing.
