GUIDELINES FOR TRYOUTS:

  • Pensacola Junior College co-ed tryouts consent forms must be signed by parent/guardian for those under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18 consent forms must be filled out by parents before tryouts!
  • Forms needed for tryouts can be downloaded by clicking on the links below. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

  1. Incoming freshman are required to submit a high school transcript.
  2. Bring copy of insurance card.
  3. Completed application form
  4. Signed waiver form. Have legal guardian signature if under the age of 18. Forms can be downloaded online.
  5. A complete physical form from a medical doctor within 6 months of tryouts.
  6. All who try-out must have at least a 2.0 GPA and will be a student at PJC in the Fall semester 2009.
  7. Video-entry for those who cannot attend try-out days is permitted. In order to qualify for this option, you must send the Cheer Coach a letter or email prior to August 31st to request a waiver in order to be excused from the September 4th tryout. The letter must detail what extraordinary circumstance you have. All videotape submissions must be accompanied with a completed tryout application.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cheer
  • Chant
  • Toe Touch Jump
  • Dance routine (Will be taught during tryouts.) For video entries dance routine should be no more than a minute and a half in length
  • Back Handspring without spot
  • Strong stunting ability
  • Tight motions/placement
  • Positive “team player” attitude willing to learn and try new skills and accept constructive criticism
  • Optimum flexibility/physical fitness/athletic level

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • T-shirt or close fitting tank top without pockets-sports bra with tanks (ladies)
  • Athletic shorts
  • Cheerleader or tennis shoes and socks
  • Hair pulled back and out of face
  • No JEWELRY of any kind - this includes navel rings.
