President's Message
Welcome to Pensacola Junior College!
In today’s world, a community college education is more valuable than ever before. With more than 100 programs available, PJC can put you on the path to a university degree or lead you directly to a career in two years or less.
For more than 60 years, students have chosen PJC as their first step to a successful future. We are proud of our alumni such as:
- NASA astronaut Alan Poindexter who piloted the Atlantis space shuttle and took the PJC gold medallion with him on a 5.3 million-mile mission last year;
- Renowned tenor Antonio Giuliano who performed at the 2008 White House Christmas celebration with the U.S. Army Chorus;
- Pensacola Mayor Mike Wiggins who is known for his years of volunteer activities at PJC and throughout the community.
We are equally proud of our current students and programs that are excelling, such as:
- Robinson Honors Scholar Danica Spears who made PJC history when she flew with the Navy’s famed Blue Angels flight team;
- Softball standout Geraldine Puertas who played for her home country of Venezuela in the 2008 Olympics;
- The Corsair student reporters who captured the General Excellence Award for Florida community college papers for the 15th time in the last 18 years;
- Radiography students who earned a 100 percent pass rate on the national certification examination – on their first attempt – for the 13th straight year;
- PJC’s Practical Nursing program that was ranked No. 1 out of 1,036 programs in the nation in 2008.
These are just a few of our success stories. We are continually striving to offer better programs to better prepare our students to achieve their goals.
PJC has the tradition and reputation of being a student-friendly college. So, I hope you make the most of your college experience – make friends by joining one of our many student clubs and organizations; cheer for the Pirates at ball games; enjoy our fine concerts and plays; and get to know our faculty and staff.
Sincerely,
Edward Meadows
